I picked up this womb and ottoman from a wood shop in downtown Los Angeles, it had sat there for years gathering dust.

A beautiful lady had mentioned at one time that she would love a Saarinen chair in a Hume tartan. With a little research we tracked down what we needed in Scotland and in no time at all we had the fabric.

Max worked his magic and made everything line up perfectly and the rest is history.

Happy 40th my love
Designed in 1948 by Eero Saarinen for Knoll, the Womb Chair was created in response to Florence Knoll’s request for a chair that felt like “a basket full of pillows.” Its groundbreaking design features a molded fiberglass shell supported by a polished steel rod base, cradling the body in a relaxed, reclined posture. Generous proportions and resilient foam cushioning provide exceptional comfort and support. Upholstered in wool or premium fabrics, the chair’s soft, organic form was revolutionary in contrast to the era’s rigid furniture. The Womb Chair remains an icon of mid-century modernism, celebrated for its innovation, comfort, and sculptural elegance.
