Barcelona Lounge
Product Description
Seat & back pads in a quality leather color of your choice with straps to match
The Barcelona Lounge Chair, designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich, debuted in 1929 for the German Pavilion at the International Exposition in Barcelona. Inspired by Roman curule seats, it was created to seat Spanish royalty during the pavilion’s opening. The design combines modernist principles with classical elegance—featuring a sleek, X-shaped stainless steel frame and button-tufted leather cushions supported by leather straps. Originally hand-crafted with chrome-plated steel and ivory-colored pigskin, it symbolizes the Bauhaus emphasis on form and function. Today, the chair is an icon of modern design, still produced by Knoll with premium materials and craftsmanship.
